Let’s talk TEFAF; part 1. TEFAF is the artfair that drawns art connoisseurs from all over the world to the beautiful city of Maastricht. Beside known for this artfair, the city is also known for its beauty, the wonderful surroundings and its incredible charm. But where to stay?! Beside culture & wonderful nature, Maastricht also offers a divine selection of hotels. We made a selection of our favourites, since there is so much to tell, we will highlight them in several blogs. In the Netherlands we are blessed with many Medieval castles, but unfortunately we don’t have many chateaux. Around Maastricht one can discover perhaps the only 2 we have the offer; The Château St. Gerlach & Château Neercanne. Beauties that are exploited by the Oostwegel Collection and offer you the opportunity to experience the area of Maastricht in style.
Interiordesign by Roelfien Vos
Recently both Chateau Neercanne & Chateau St. Gerlach underwent a large renovation and restyling. The interiordesign was done by well known Dutch designer Roelfien Vos, who gave the interiors a total new look with an eye for the classic château feeling.
Château Neercanne
Once there was a time when the Netherlands almost lost this beauty to Belgium. The owners of the château had the choice either to stay in the Netherlands or to become Belgium. Lucky enough they remained part of the Netherlands. Since the château is located on the border, one can enter the estate in the Netherlands and leave it in Belgium. The château comes with only 7 suites, which makes a stay at this place extra intimate. Make sure to book a lunch at L’Auberge and dinner at the Michelin star rewarded restaurant to make a stay at this beauty complete.
